Week 9

DOUBLE SPIKE!

Buffalo hangs on to beat the Chiefs in Buffalo where Travis Kelce is held in check and Patrick Mahomes goes without a TD and throws for under 50% completion percentage for the first time in his career. The Chiefs are in 3rd place in the AFC West as they lose to Buffalo who now have 5 straight regular season wins over KC. People are saying that Josh Allen is living rent free in Mahomes’ head and Brittany Mahomes may be living with Josh and his new fiancé on the weekdays from now on for a little menage a trois. Some people pay double for that kind of action!

Drake London goes OFF against the Patriots, Brock Bowers set a fantasy football season high for points with 38.3, and Sam Darnold goes 16/16 for 282 yards and 4 TDs on SNF - IN THE FIRST HALF! And Joe Flacco — Father Time himself — threw for 470 yards at 40 years old. Bro beat his own single-game record of 389 like it was nothing. The man’s turning Metamucil into rocket fuel.

Christian McCaffrey, Kyle Monangai, Kyren Williams, Rico Dowdle, Derrick Henry, and James Cook - birds of a feather in the week of the running back renaissance! CMC continues his case for OPOTY and Kyle Monangai breaks out to give his pitch for being the next starter in Chicago. Rico Dowdle needs to keep the ball and Chuba Hubbard should never see the field again for the Panthers. Go download a Linked In profile and learn some real estate basics for your next career, Chuba.

Week BUMMERS

The Panthers upset the Packers on a game winning field goal as time expires. Green Bay’s loss as a 13.5 point favorite was the biggest upset of the season and is also the biggest upset in the NFL since 2023. Maybe it was the jerseys and the old time leather helmet helmets! CJ Stroud exits with a concussion after a big hit to the head on a slide down in the open field. Jayden Daniels gets left in the game down 31 with 8 minutes to go and the Redskins add insult to injury with a dislocated elbow to pile on to Luke McCaffrey’s broken collar bone.

The Raiders can’t capitalize on Geno Smith’s best game of the year as they lose by 1 to the Jags in Las Vegas. You have to respect the decision to go for a 2-pt conversion at the end of the game though.

Tucker Kraft out for the year, Joe Alt out for the year, another 49er 1st round pick out for the year! Rome Odunze - not hurt, just not a FF WR1.

The Cincinnati Bengals are the first team in 59 years to score 38 or more points in back-to-back contests and lose both.

Matchup of the Week

Caleb Williams is turning into the biggest risk/reward of the NFL and FF season for 2025. B1G C0*K BROCK takes the Tijuana chicken fighting to Vegas with Brock Bowers going off for his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd TD of the season. Kirby put the spurs on the talons and murdered the Spread Eagles. BIRD FIGHT!

Will we look back at Week 9 as the downfall of the Spread Eagles? How will he handle the adversity? Hit the sauna and sweat it out big dawg.

Not much to say this week. Do we wanna hear anymore about how great Kirby is? Glad you asked, see my OOTW for more.

Trade Review

Trade Review 〰️

Here are the Chat GPT reviews of each trade to date in the Dubtown FF League:

📝 Trade Recap

B1G C0*K BROCK gets:

  • CeeDee Lamb (DAL WR)

  • RJ Harvey (DEN RB)

The Hammer C0cks get:

  • Jordan Mason (MIN RB)

  • Emeka Egbuka (TB WR)

🧠 Trade Analysis

  • B1G C0*K BROCK: Turned two depth pieces (Mason, Egbuka) into a legit WR1 in Lamb. Even if Harvey never hits, the upgrade at WR was massive.

  • The Hammer C0cks: Took a big name off the roster for speculative depth. Unless he was desperate for bench depth or long-term lottery tickets, the value swing went against him.

🏆 Verdict: B1G C0*K BROCK Wins (By a Mile)

CeeDee Lamb’s breakout stretch after the trade likely swung matchups on his own.
The Hammer C0cks gained no immediate starters and lost a cornerstone WR — clear imbalance in short- and long-term value.

📝 Trade Recap

Swag Dahdi receives:

  • Kenneth Walker III (SEA RB)

  • Dalton Kincaid (BUF TE)

For Kyren Out Loud receives:

  • Travis Kelce (KC TE)

  • Jaylen Waddle (MIA WR)

  • Chuba Hubbard (CAR RB)

🔍 Strategic Context

  • Swag Dahdi:

    • Upgraded TE from Kelce ➝ Kincaid is a bet on upside, not guaranteed dominance.

    • Gains a high-end RB in Walker, but loses the positional cheat code at TE.

    • Also gave up Waddle — a weekly difference-maker.

    • Essentially traded two studs for one stud + a breakout maybe.

  • For Kyren Out Loud:

    • Kelce by himself can tilt matchups.

    • Added Waddle’s rest-of-season high ceiling.

    • Hubbard is playable depth — a nice bonus.

    • Much stronger weekly starting lineup.

🧠 Trade Verdict

✅ Winner: For Kyren Out Loud

Reason:

  • Kelce is a week-to-week advantage over nearly every opponent.

  • Waddle > Walker at most points of the season in half-PPR.

  • Hubbard was free equity.

Swag Dahdi would only come out on top if:

  • Walker stayed top-8 ROS and

  • Kincaid fully replaced Kelce’s elite TE output.

That’s a lot of “ifs.”

📝 Trade Recap

Port my Ash receives:

  • Rachaad White (TB RB)

Swag Dahdi receives:

  • Sam LaPorta (DET TE)

🔍 Strategic Context

  • Port my Ash:

    • Gave up an elite TE for an RB with high volume but middling efficiency.

    • This move likely came from positional need — maybe TE depth was covered or RB depth was thin.

    • White’s workload keeps him valuable, but he doesn’t offer LaPorta’s week-winning upside.

  • Swag Dahdi:

    • Likely upgraded massively at TE.

    • If his RB group was already solid, this was a major positional advantage.

    • LaPorta gives elite, stable points at a scarce position — very valuable in half-PPR.

🧠 Verdict: Slight Edge to Swag Dahdi

Swag Dahdi-Locked in an elite TE for a replaceable RB; positional edge every week.

Port my Ash-Filled RB need and caught White’s breakout stretch, but long-term value leans to LaPorta.

🏁 Summary

This trade was actually pretty balanced in timing — White hit a strong stretch after the trade, but LaPorta is the kind of player who can anchor a lineup for the season and playoffs.

👉 If Port my Ash was desperate for RB help, it’s defensible. But in pure value, Swag Dahdi wins the deal.

📝 Trade Recap

Ken You Dig It? receives:

  • Sam LaPorta (DET TE)

  • Travis Etienne Jr. (JAX RB)

Swag Dahdi receives:

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba (SEA WR)

🔍 Strategic Context

  • Ken You Dig It?:

    • Solidifies both RB1 and TE1 positions, crucial for week-to-week reliability.

    • This is a high-floor, high-ceiling move.

    • Loses WR depth in Smith-Njigba, but WR corps likely had coverage elsewhere.

  • Swag Dahdi:

    • Gains a young WR with breakout upside in Smith-Njigba.

    • Sacrifices TE1 and a top RB, so this is a rebuild / upside play rather than a win-now move.

    • Could pay off if Smith-Njigba hits elite WR1 production late season.

🧠 Verdict: Slight Edge to Ken You Dig It?

Ken You Dig It? Upgrades both RB and TE to elite, week-winning options; high floor and ceiling.

Swag Dahdi Potential upside in Smith-Njigba, but lost two cornerstone players; more speculative.

🏁 Summary

This trade is essentially risk vs reward:

  • Ken You Dig It? locks in reliability for the playoffs.

  • Swag Dahdi is betting on Smith-Njigba breaking out, but it’s a gamble given what they gave up

WHY HE DO THAT? OF THE WEEK 〰️

Rico Dowdle gets flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for hitting the Hingle McCringleberry celebration! The rulebook says you are allowed for two pumps but the refs penalize the Panthers anyway! WHY HE DO THAT?

Overreaction of the Week

The Colts lost to the Steelers in Week 9 who lost to the Packers in Week 8 who lost to the Panthers in Week 9. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?! Well, obviously it means that the Colts and Packers are done for and the Panthers and Steelers are in contention. Ehhh, maybe I don’t actually believe that. I do believe that the AFC is still up for grabs and that is not much of a hot take, but it runs in congruence with my shit talk about Dubtown FF standings - meaning that it’s anyone’s game and it must feel good for the lesser teams that they can capitalize and take the win streaks on the road to move up the rankings. I want to look at Houston to make a run with their defense, I am watching Baltimore to see if they can rattle off a win streak, and let’s see if Jacksonville can squeak into the playoffs at the end of the regular season.

My Super Bowl prediction is the Colts versus the Lions at this point. My Super Bowl hopes is for the Niners versus the the Bills. It’s still too difficult to tell but I just don’t think I have the balls to hope for Niners versus the Chiefs ever again. The Bucs could do it, the Seahawks or Rams could do it, and Green Bay or Philly still have a very very good shot at making it all the way from the NFC.

Around Dubtown:

So the bottom dwellers want to talk trades huh? Tell me more about how bad my trade is when half the teams in the league can’t even score 100 fuckin’ points!

Let’s take a look at what was offered for JSN prior to the trade with Swag Dahdi:

Ken offered JSN to Lowe for CMC straight up. Lowe counters with TreVeyon Henderson for JSN straight up! That’s the FF number 40 RB TreVeyon Henderson, Yes, that one. Okay, Sleepy.

Ken offers JSN to the Tax Man for Josh Jacobs straight up, Crickets. Not even a text message.

Ken offers JSN to Swag Dahdi for Johnathon Taylor straight up, Declined. Fair. Ken counters with Jalen Hurts and JSN for Taylor and a player to be named later but Dahdi says he likes Baker. Fair.

Turtles offer Orande Gadsden II and Tony Pollard for Devonta Smith. In Week 9, Gadsden and Pollard combined for 16.6 FF points. Yeah… real good trade, buddy. Good luck with Rome Odunze.

B1G C0*K BROCK is looking ridiculously good. I am talking so good looking that it’s even better looking than my Hungarian beach Princess. Is she actually a Princess? I don’t think so. In fact, I know nothing about Hungary and I am pretty sure that it is land locked so what are we even talking about the beach for? I digress - Swag Dahdi got lucky with Kyle Monangai. Bowman would tell you it’s the Luck of the Irish, but I highly doubt that he is even Irish. The guy looks more like a Nordic Viking or a Cro-Magnon caveman to me. Come see me for some world history lessons or if you want to learn more about getting lucky around the world. Swag Dahdi is in second place and he is going to make a serious run at back-to-back Ships with JSN. I’ll be honest, I didn’t see that he picked up Sam Darnold. At least now he has to make a wise decision between matchups with Baker on the bench. I Think I Pulled McCaf is going to be fighting with me for a final playoff spot. Beating up on the last place team is smart honestly. Give your team some confidence and see the ball go through the hoop. Lowe finishes the regular season against Kirby and I just think that we should set the expectations now that he will be sorely upset when Kirby cruises to the 1-seed and Lowe misses the playoffs the way that I miss having a Brazilian in my life.
